Phil’s Food World Media Kit
Phil Cook has a career in the food industry that has spanned for over 20 years. Having spent three years training as a chef at Fife College, Phil achieved an HNC in Professional Cookery and spent three years working in several award-winning kitchens across Scotland. He has also worked as a restaurant manager for a high-volume branded chain but truly found his niche when he began managing the I.J. Mellis Cheesemongers shop on Victoria Street in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket. Always keen to learn, Phil followed his dream of working in the wine industry, firstly with Oddbins where he achieved WSET Level 2 in wines, spending over three years as the shop manager. During that time, Phil and his good friend and colleague launched Grapes: The Wine Podcast. Following the tragic demise of Oddbins, Phil moved on to a new challenge with Majestic Wine.
An award-winning journalist prior to his career in food, Phil combines his love of writing with his unwavering passion for food to produce his blog Phil’s Food World. We like to think the training and expertise Phil has gained lends credibility to restaurant reviews, recipes and feature articles found on Phil's Food World - something that most bloggers cannot genuinely offer. Phil loves talking, learning and blogging about food and is always interested to hear from any artisan producer, brand or restaurant with a view to producing a relevant blog post.
