Having secured the site on The Shore previously inhabited by East Pizzas, Pizza Geeks plan to expand the kitchen at the back of
the site to be able to cater for the Leith market. However, competition in this area is fierce
with the long-established Origano and
the fantastic Razzo ruling the roust
in the area. So, what will set Pizza
Geeks apart?
I opted for the ‘Johnny Blaze’ (£8) which involves pepperoni, red onion, jalapenos, and chilli
flakes on a tomato base with mozzarella.
First thing to expect with top pizza is a beery hit when opening the box
– tick. Toppings were notably generous,
which often lacks in other establishments.
The centre was soupy as you’d expect from a Neapolitan. The tomato sauce was tangy and offset the
heat from spicy components and the garlic dip (£1.50) was heavenly.
I was really chuffed with these pizzas. The dough was
expertly proved, and cooked with quality ingredients and a range of quirky
options leaving a sense of intrigue. Pizza Geek’s unique style will
definitely enhance the Leith food scene and cement the area as Edinburgh’s
premier pizza location.
